The one thing about all the travelling I have done over the past years, in new life, has resulted in me going from the most organised, anal person ever; to 'oh don't worry I will figure it out'. I guess that is me; one extreme to another. Andy says I am a contradiction of a contraction. London is grey and overcast today. Personally, I cannot wait to get on that plane. I need to get away from many things. I guess travelling is away of running away from things and that is probably why I have been doing so for the past few years. I think, when you live in London, you reach a point where you just need time out.
Today I had lunch with some work colleagues and we went to the Japanese shop called Minamoto Kitchoan, which is in The Strand. Someone had told me about it and that they sell the most exquisite confectionary. As I found myself over that way, I thought I would go and try to get in the Japanese mood.
The first thing I noticed was how serene the shop was. Well organised, spotlessly clean and full of the most amazing looking things to eat. I explained to the woman that I was travelling to Japan on Sunday and we had a little chat (as I often do with random people I just collect). I then purchased a cherry blossom waffle. It was presented in such lovely packaging. I did share it with my colleagues and it was rather tasty. Not cheap mind at £3 a waffle but the woman explained that they import all the items from Japan. I think this reminded me why I wanted to visit Japan in the first place. The culture, the serenity, the precision
and the most beautiful, decorative items. Also, the woman was telling me that on 5 May they celebrate Children's Day, not quite sure what this is all about, but she did mention the word carp, as in fish. I guess more to come on this!

So finally, with less than 24 hours before I leave for the airport, I thought I better make the effort and start to pack. The good thing about travelling is you learn what not to take. It did not take long at all and I seem to have plenty of
room still in my case, which let's face it is not very big to start with. I have learnt over the years that if I want to take it, then I have to carry it!
So now it is 1.30pm and I am going to get bored and restless. I would go out but the weather is vile and I have nowhere really to go. I hate hanging around waiting for adventures to start. I am just like a child. I am sure I will drive Andy nuts. It is going to be strange for me having someone to travel with. Someone to talk with on the plane, discuss and hatch a plan when you cannot understand a word on a map and need to find your accommodation. God help Japan is all I can say. All we need to do is look at each other and we know what we are thinking and laugh at almost anything.
We spent the rest of the day watching Westworld. I obviously remember the original film (even though I am only 29). It was quite good actually. I have
decided that perhaps I just need a robot as a partner, then I can programme in all the things I am (and are not) looking for. However, we decided that it would be so confused deciding if it should open the door, or not; if it should pay for dinner or not; if it should agree with me or not; if it should have an opinion or not that it would just glitch out and blow up! So I guess it is just back to the drawing board.
Dinner was a pastiche of leftovers from the fridge. All that remains on my shelf now is three small sachets of wasabi and some olives. So the case is packed, the Mac (aka Betsy May Jackson - you may remember Betsy May who was my dear old scooter in Ko Mal, Thailand in 2014) is charged, passport, credit card and money all sorted. All I need now is to get a fairly good nights sleep. That would be a first this week.

As always, with my love x
